Bridgestone Corporation manufactures a broad range of tires for trucks and buses, passenger cars, subways, and monorails.
In this issue, we visited Tochigi plant in Nasushiobara, and interviewed with Takashi Shibatani, General Manager of General Administration Department. Kitakanto Production division, Taishi Fujii, Senior staff, Toshio Yamaguchi,Yuuko Okuda, and Sohei Watanabe, staff members in General Administration and Environment Conservation Section.
【Tochigi Plant】
Manufactures tires for passenger cars, truck and buses, small trucks (radial tires), and monorails.
【Nasu Plant】
Manufactures tires for motorcycles, passenger cars (radial tires), agricultural machines, and industrial vehicles.
【Kuroiso Plant】
Manufactures steel codes for tires and industrial rubber products, bead wires for tires, wires for hose-replacement, etc.
Nasushiobara is located in an affluent nature with rich underground water, etc. and provided with a highly convenient location environment in relatively closer distance to the Tokyo metropolitan area having expressway (Nishinasuno IC, Kuroiso Itamuro IC) and railroad networks (Tohoku Shinkansen).
We are providing a various kind of tire-products by utilizing our high technical capabilities, with aiming at "Living together with nature and society". Tires for new transportation systems (monorail or subway), super low profile wide tires (Greatec) for improving fuel consumptions and load stacking efficiencies, motorcycle tires, etc. are unique products in our company, and they are really typical representatives of made in Tochigi.

【Nasuno Makigari Festival in 2009】
Tochigi plant, Nasu plant, Kuroiso plant and Proving ground, those 4 operations believe that "Our business activities can be succeeded continuously, only when we have been loved and supported by the community people, and only when we contribute to the community by ourselves".
For example, Bridgestone Corporation nationally promotes "B･Forest Ecopia-no-mori" project which maintains forests by utilizing a part of the sales of "Ecopia" brand tires.
As a part of this project, a forest in Nasushiobara as "B･Forest Ecopia-no-mori Nasushiobara" is organized every year. An event of in the forest is planned to improve the environmental awareness while having fun for employees and their families. Also in the neighboring East Nasuno Park, flower beds of narcissus are arranged in 4 years in a row, 7,400 bulbs of narcissus were planted in 2010.
For local events, we participated in various events such as Nasuno Makigari Festival.
Further in Tochigi plant, "Green Harmony Plant Activities" is promoted based on 4 major activities (①CO2 emission reduction activities ②Environment improvement activities ③Biodiversity conservation activities ④Social contribution activities).
In 2010, those our activities were awarded the "Special prize for the actions for stop-global warming", "Selected 100 greeneries in companies for biodiversity", "Japan Greening Center Chairman's prize for excellent greening plant", and " 3R promoting association Chairman's prize", etc. We will actively promote those activities hereafter also.
We have 4 operations in Nasushiobara City, including this Tochigi plant. We strive to manufacture further the high quality of products with meeting the trusts and expectations from the local community peoples.
