【PET Films】 【PEN Films】

Teijin Limited and E. I. DuPont had established the largest polyester film global joint venture, Teijin DuPont Films, in January 2000.
Teijin DuPont Films Japan Limited (herein after TDFJ) is a core Japanese company in this joint venture, who manufactures and markets polyester films.

Utsunomiya factory is manufacturing following type of films.

　・PET Film
Such as flat panel LCD films, solar cells back sheet films, and environmental lamination films, etc. films of high quality with an excellent cost performance are produced.

　・PEN Film
Only TDFJ can make, with global share of almost 100% of highly functional films. Used for broad range of advanced industries applications such as solar cells, semiconductors, and high density data storage tapes (LTO).

　・Processed Film
The Processed films are highly functional films made by various additional treatments such as silicone coated PET films, they are used widely in the fields for electronics materials or optical materials, such as LCD panels, and mobile phones.

Tochigi Prefecture and its Business Environment

Utsunomiya factory had started its operation in 1985 as an exclusive base film factory for VHS video tapes. When we were looking for a next location for our customers in the Kitakanto region, we heard about Kiyohara Industrial Park, and immediately decided to locate here. This was a suitable location for us, and exactly fit into our aim to supply our products directly to our customers not only in the Kitakanto region, but also in the southern Tohoku region.
When we made our study for new location, a cost of domestic physical distribution were concerned. We transport raw materials from Matsuyama in Shikoku region. When "To transport raw materials for long distance" and "To transport finished products for long distance" were compared, our raw materials could be transported more effectively in higher volume at once. It was a key to manufacture and supply from the nearest point to our customers, and Kiyohara Industrial Park was selected.

It has been many years since we developed in here, there are several advantages could not been aware of at the time of the development. Facilities are well arranged because of industrial park, and communications with different industries through the General Control Association of Kiyohara Industrial Park, are appreciated to exchange various information. We are actively participating to the meetings because, even in different industries, we may share common issues.

Also, in Utsunomiya City in Tochigi, it is easier to secure human resources. People are enthusiastic in educations and easy to secure talented persons than any other region. Not so big nor not so small, an adequate size of the city of Utsunomiya is good. Also not so country-side, not so big city, the balance of environments is excellent. We have moved several times from one place to others in our company, Utsunomiya is an excellent place for living. I prefer here very much.

【PET Films for Cans】 【PEN Films for LTO】 【Processed Films for Touch Panel 】

There are films for can-lamination made from PET films. Those products are produced only in Utsunomiya factory in the world. Only one product in all over the world. You may know there are beverage cans with a white-colored bottom. The white-colored bottom indicates that products are laminated with our films for can-lamination. This type of films for can-lamination does not require lubrication at the process of can processing. It means no water is required in the process, and can be erased easier than directly painted materials, so this is an eco-product which does not require excessive energies for can recycling.

Also, almost all high density data storage tapes (LTO) made from PEN films in the world are produced in this plant. For industrial PEN films, the applications are expanding on hybrid cars or fuel cell cars, and further growth are expected.

Within Utsunomiya factory, there is an exclusive plant for processing films, with taking the advantages of an integrated production with sheet production plant in the next door, various highly functional films are produced in an extra-clean environment. LCD panels and display for mobile phones, or the like, of course, a development for new applications such as for electric papers are progressing.

Contributing Local Community

Safety traffic activities are emphasized in whole company. As Utsunomiya factory, cleaning activities of plant surrounding areas are periodically organized.

Also, internships for high school students are accepted. Students from three local schools are accepted every year.
We have cosponsorship for the National high School Football Competition. Soccer balls, made by our group company, are presented for the team represent Tochigi. Every operation of sales offices in Teijin group companies are cosponsoring for their own prefectures.

Teijin group has started a development of design for environment brand "Earth symphony" in 2010, and our company also actively working on it. The design for environment is defined as "Product design that aims to reduce the environmental impact of each product through evaluating the overall environmental impact throughout the product life cycle including raw materials, production, use and disposal" (environmental impact includes a release of CO2 or sulfur oxides that affect to global warming or air pollution).
We, as a manufacture of raw materials, are working on design for environment by considering the use of products to its disposal at your home.
