【Aquilion ONE】
Our company integrally provides development, manufacturing, sales, and service of medical information systems used in and out of hospitals. Medical systems includes diagnostic imaging equipment such as CT, MRI, X-Ray, Ultrasonic diagnosis system operated in hospitals, etc. and storage system of those images, and electronic health record systems.
We appreciated that Toshiba's medical systems have been accepted and highly evaluated, while maintaining the top market share in Japan with having a global presence in more than 135 countries.
Here in Otawara as its global headquarters, we have three research and development locations in world wide, one manufacturing site in China, and 17 subsidiaries and distributors to evolve our global business.
In recent years, the rasing medical interests, such as a declining of birth rate combined with aging society, a diversity of diseases, and medical expenses issues, makes us feel that our company is getting a bigger role. In order to meet needs from patients and medical staff who utilize our products, we provide safe and secured medical care technologies by bringing our cutting-edge technologies together.
Medical technologies are advancing day by day, and the development race among medical equipment manufacturers is intensified. In such circumstances, our CT (Computed Tomography System) with cutting-edge technologies gains a high rating and high market share in the world.
World first a 320-row detector CT "Aquilion ONE" received a great deal of attention as
a system which can provides new clinical values such as functional diagnosis, and dynamic observation apart from conventional morphological. Since its introduction in November 2007, more than 300 medical clinics had placed orders in all over the world.
The 160 mm-wide coverage of 3D imaging in one rotation with 0.35 seconds, provides a patient-friendly medical care by a drastic reduction of scanning time and exposure dose.

【Overview of the Factory】
Factory was relocated here in 1979. The biggest reason was a vast site area we could acquired when further expansion of factory was impractical in the Keihin area. In our industry, the development stage is very important, it is one of the merits that our employees can focus in their development work in surrounded by abundant nature and greenery.
Also a closer distance from the Tokyo metropolitan area is a significant benefit, because some parts are still purchased in the Keihin area or imported from overseas.
The development of medical care system with advanced technologies, and the detailed Monozukuri technologies which only Japanese can provide, are our company's selling point to compete in the global market.
Especially, because of medical care systems are connected deeply to the life of patients, we always pay attention to provide a patient-friendly inspection environment.
For example, our MRI system is equipped with the pianissimo technology which reduces noises drastically on inspections.
Generally MRI produces big noises as a jet air plane, patient used to wear ear plugs during his or her inspection. Toshiba MRI equipped with the pianissimo technology cut noises up to 90%, and patient can be inspected comfortably without ear plugs. " Quietness of Toshiba's MRI is amazing. Please tell us the hospitals where Toshiba's MRI is installed". There had been many such inquires from patients directly.
【Pink Ribbon Activities】
We are performing tree-planting activities in Tochigi, making lectures by visiting and conducting educations for clinical laboratory technologists.
Also, we attend at "Yoichi-matsuri" event in Otawara every year, by attending at Nagashi-odori, and setting up our tent-booth to raise people gathered at the event.
Upon request, we may organize plant tours and exchange of games with company's table tennis team for students in and out of Tochigi.
In addition, we are promoting the breast cancer awareness activity "Pink ribbon activity" as a Toshiba's group wide activities.
As a company, providing ultrasound diagnostic systems and mammographies
effective for breast cancer inspections, we are developing our activities in various ways to help increasing the ratio of participation and the accuracy of breast cancer inspections.
