In this issue we visited Sano plant, and interviewed with Akiyoshi Takahashi, Director, Senior Executive Officer, Plant Manager.
【Sensors】
Since founded in 1967, as a venture company, we develop, manufacture, and market electronics parts such as electric circuit parts, pressure sensors, and actuators for industries.
For electric circuit parts, plant is located at Osaki City in Miyagi Prefecture, developing business mainly for industrial market with trimer potentiometer (half-fixed resister) , switches (for settings, for operations). Its applications are widely spread among communication, measuring, medical, and OA equipment.
In here, Sano plant is developing business as a manufacturing point of pressure sensors and actuators.
Various pressure sensors, including mainly pressure sensors which detects a pressure of liquid or gas and transform it to an electric signal, are manufactured. They are used mainly for manufacturing equipment of semiconductors, air pressure, FA, measuring, and medical equipment.
The actuators including motor products mainly stepping motors, and scanner products mainly brush-less motors. The motors are mainly used for such as amusement, industry, and OA equipment. The scanners are mainly used for such as MFP, copy machines, laser printers, medical equipment, and industrial inspection equipment.
With having the Technical Center, this plant is a production point, and at same time, this is a corporate research and development point also.
By 1986, we had a plant in Ashikaga City, by the glowing of our business, we decided to built a new plant. Firstly, tried to find a location within same Ashikaga City, but this location was selected with best-matching with our criteria for a new location, with larger site space, abundant nature, and a closer distance to the Tohoku Expressway.
In addition, we are expecting increased merit of logistics by the improvements of infrastructure, such as a full opening of the Kitakanto Expressway and connection with the Ken-o Expressway. For security aspect, a few natural disasters give us a merit.
【Scanners】
By applying semiconductor technologies, our pressure sensors are produced integrally in this plant from the sensor device to various application products, in order to meet with a recent trend of higher precision of equipment, such technology revolutions as for sensors for cleaner environment, higher temperature application, or high anti-rust are adopted.
Polygon mirror and air moving pressure bearings, used for polygon laser scanners, are manufactured by super precision machining technics. It's qualities and performances are highly valuated by many customers, and maintaining the world No.1 market share.
Most of our employees are locally employed. Highly skilled technics are required for developing, designing, and producing of our plant products. Those high school graduates from neighboring schools mainly in Sano and Ashikaga City, are involved and playing an active roll on those activities.
【Plentiful Nature in Sano City Athletic Park】
Our company believes our largest local contributions as a company are; to create profits continuously, to ensure employment, and to grow. Even we have a fluctuation of performances from growing, stand still, an to stable, we are maintaining high level of performance in recent years. Further in 2007, our Development Technical Center was developed with concentrating all its functions into Sano City with additional employments.
Recruitment also are made from local high schools every year.
We are located in a closer distance to Sano City Athletic Park in plentiful natural environments,with supporting local festivals or events as much as possible.
Hereinafter, in order to help children for creating further interests for Monozukuri or technics, we would like to provide special teaching classes at neighboring elementary and junior high schools.
For environment, in April 2000, ISO 14001 was acquired. Activities such as a prevention of global warming (reduction of CO2), activities for Zero-emission, environment conservations, and reduction of chemical substances, are performed.
Regarding with a prevention of global warming (reduction of CO2), 35% reduction of CO2 was achieved in 2010 compared with 1990. For activities for Zero-emission, both final disposal ratio of 1 % and recycling ratio of 80% were targeted, and its have been achieved since 2008. We will continue our activities with keeping and achieving the targets.
In a not spot-lighted electronics parts industry, we gained higher trust from many customers by providing high quality of electronics parts for continuously over many years. We are not well-known company, but with having a research and development functions in this Sano plant, we are creating a product with anticipating the future needs of the markets.
